Peeling Zoas off of Rock

Ok, need some advice. I put some Pink n Golds on a rock in my tank and in a month, they've at least quadrupled in size and my fear is that they're going to take over my tank! I started with a frag of 3 polyps with a couple little babies a month ago and now I count at least 20 polyps. How dangerous is it to peel them off the rock (very carefully, wearing gloves)? Or do I run the risk of poisoning my whole tank with palytoxins and crashing the whole thing? I can't take the rock out as it is a large rock and the base for my entire rockscape. The whole palytoxin thing freaks me out. Photos:

Depending on how porous the rock is, it might not be possible to peel them off without damaging them. If attempting, I'd also wear eye protection. Personally, I'd just enjoy them as is.

If you really want them off, wear some gloves and eye protection - take out the rock (if you can) and then use a razor blade to remove the ones you don't want. I think they look good. Zoas always get angry in my tank and dont last very long. I'm jealous you have gotten such great growth! Keep them!!!!!

When mine start encroaching on another coral colony I go after mine with scissors and/or a razor blade. I just make sure to wash my hands after for any toxins i might have released. Be sure to take the peices out or you will find polyps in strange places. I had one polyp get stuck on the powerhead and now its attached and growing more heads!

I agree with all of the above. If the rock is thin or brittle you can try cutting pieces off with wire cutters or the like, but be careful not to apply too much pressure and crack your glass

I really like the look of them...have two different morphs in my 2G!

Like the guys said, basic protective equip (eyes and hands) are fine.

Are you from Mystic? LOVE that area...

We keep our boat in Mystic and I grew up around there - we live in Norwich now which is about 25 minutes inland. Mystic is awesome! How do you know about it?

Tibbs, if I do frag it, I'll send you some! I'm pretty sure these would grow like weeds for ya!

Well first, Mystic Pizza.

Also, worked for a company that had a division headquartered there for their maritime systems architecture work.

Nice! We used to live in Stonington Borough where a lot of the scenes were also filmed. I love that whole area. Small world!!
