I wanted to get a test kit to check my alkalinity and calcium in my tank. Their are many kits out there, and I was wondering which test kits you guys would recommend Thanks.

+1 on salifert.

I went through API and Red Sea and hated both. API is way too inaccurate and Red Sea takes forever

I've used API, Salifert, Red Sea, and Hannah. I love the Salifert calcium and the Hannah Alkalinity

I'm gonna pick up the salifert calcium or should I go Hanna? I already have the hanna alkalinity meter

Don't do Hanna Ca. Look it up- very unreliable and often off by more than 75ppm

Ok thanks!

Recently I've been just checking Ca and KH, since the rest hasn't budged since I've had the tank.

I use Salifert always, and if the results are surprising I'll test again and/or use my API kit to verify the results.

I thought the same months ago and bought the Hannah calcium checker...horrible. While their Alk checker is awesome, their calcium checker doesn't give consistent results and I would avoid it.

Thanks a bunch I almost pulled the trigger

I'm in the minority here, but I use the Hanna Ca checker and like it. If I think a reading is off, I'll do another test and compare the numbers.
