Odyssey350kc
I added a melanurus wrasse to my tank and i love him. However ever since i added him, about 5 days ago. My anthia will not come out from hiding except to eat, and only if it can get the food without being too close to the melanurus wrasse. It also comes out after the wrasse buries itself for the night. I noticed the anthia had a ripped fin, I am making an assumption but i would think the wrasse did it. Do you guys think they will get over it? How long do I wait? Am I going to have to get rid of one? Link to comment
najluni15
I have never known the melanarus to be aggressive. I've only had 3 but none have been aggressive to other fish. Make sure they are well fed. I am sure they will get over it shortly. Link to comment
Mojado
When I added mine in my 40B, my firefish disappeared. Never saw him again. Link to comment
Odyssey350kc
Thanks. I have been feeding 3 times a day to try and curb the aggression. Link to comment
plainrt
melanurus is aggressive I think not. They may eat snails etc but known to be a good fish. What size tank are these fish in? Link to comment
ajmckay
I think the melanarus has a decent potential to become aggressive - several factors are involved though. As mentioned make sure you have the appropriate tank conditions. Since the wrasse gets to be a decent size tank size could become an issue for typical nanos. I find that it's not always as simple as "give it some time to sort itself out". Keep a very close eye on things so you can take action and curb aggression before it gets too overbearing. Good luck.
