Flying Fish In My Living Room

Yep, Details my Citron Clown Goby, took a flight across my living room on Live Rock Airlines.

I'm in the process of upgrading from a Nanocube 6 to an IM Fusion 40. I won't bore you with those details, but yesterday was relocation day for some corals and the one swimming resident of the NC6. I was also transferring some of the LR from the NC6, but leaving some in it too.

I tried for about 15 minutes to catch the little critter but he kept dodging behind his favorite piece of rock. I came up with the brilliant solution of moving that piece to the new tank and rearranging the remaining rock in the NC6 so he had nowhere to hide.

So I grab the hideout rock, lift it out of the 6 gallon and hold it over a bowl as I walk the 15 or so feet across my living room to the Fusion 40. The Fusion has a bunch of new base rock, but I had a location planned out for this particular piece. I get it in place and step back to take a look.

Not really satisfied with how it's sitting, I reach back in and start to move it around some so that it sits better when ZIP.. something shoots across the tank in my peripheral vision. Sure enough, it's Details, who somehow managed to hang on in a crevice in the rock all the way across the living room and still not get squashed as I placed the rock.

He looked a little tired this morning, probably jet lag (either that or the much bigger tank and heavier flow). I was actually a little concerned that he was struggling too much. He was clinging to a rock near the bottom and not being his usual active self. I went home during lunch to check on him though and he is still doing ok. I put some spirulina brine in after turning off the return and putting the MP10 on "feeding mode" and he was all over it swimming around like crazy gobbling up food.

I think he's going to be fine.

Had similar happen when I bought my cleaner wrasse, the little SOB was playing hard to get at the shop so the assistant thought 'right I'll have you', lifted out the rock he kept darting around to avoid the net and then went back to trying to catch him.

After a few seconds we realised we couldn't see the cleaner in the tank?

Not known for burrowing in sand like some wrasse the assistant gave the sand bed a stir. Nothing.

We then looked over at the rock that was removed sat on the lid of the tank over, placed the rock back under water and the cleaner wrasse shot out of it.

Little bugger. Had us going for a good 30 seconds lol.
