Bill Nye
I am going to replace my filters for the first time on my spectrapure refurb and am wondering which I should get. My final TDS is starting to creep between 0 - 1 when making water so I think its about time! My question is which set should I get the .5 um filters/blocks or the 1 um filters/blocks? http://spectrapure.com/CSPDI-System-Cartridge-Replacement-Kit-SuperDI-High-Capacity http://spectrapure.com/MPDI-System-Cartridge-Replacement-Kit-High-Capacity-DI Link to comment

I'm sure you know that the prefilter reduces blocking of the carbon filter which removes chlorine and protects th RO membrane. Recommended replacement is when there's a pressure drop or at approximately 6 months. I don't think you'll go too far wrong with either set, to be honest. Link to comment
AZDesertRat
Either one. I prefer the 0.5 personally as it does a better job of protecting the RO membrane so it will last longer and reduce your cost of ownership over time. The higher cost of the better sediment and carbon block filters is more than offset by the extended RO and DI life. Link to comment
Bill Nye
Thanks for the replies. I figured that would be true but just wanted to check it out before I purchased. Going to go with the .5 micron filter. Link to comment
Dramad1
They also have a zetazorb which I use, it's a .2 micron. Works very well. Link to comment
tjwaggoner
You like the spectra pure? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one of the refurb units myself. Actually started checking out on their site earlier until I saw it was $30 to ship it. Then I started looking at other systems since that inflated shipping eats away at the cost saving of the refurb unit. I haven't heard much bad about the unit though Link to comment
AZDesertRat
You won't find a better system for less than $250 anywhere else guaranteed. Other vendors roll the shipping cost into the price of the system, Spectrapure is more like actual shipping cost, seems high but it evens out in the end. Link to comment
