Lu Diamonds
Just had an experience after LFS said that these two species were compatible. Had a Chromis and a Yellowtailed in 14 gallon BC and decided to try a Clown after LFS said it was ok...oh well that was some bad info! Clown put the Damsel to rest in 20 minutes flat. And now my Clown is following around my Chromis scheming...looks like round two! Link to comment
FlowerMama
Sorry to hear about your misfortune but I think 3 would've been territorial in too small a space. I hate losing any fish. Link to comment
aviator300
I've had a clown for about a year in my 13 gal tank and added a juvenile yellow tail Damsel about a month ago and they are "Best Friends Forever". Guess it just depends on the personality of each particular fish. Link to comment
seabass
Clarkii Clownfish (Amphiprion clarkii) can grow to almost 6". Not really suitable for a 14 gallon tank. Clownfish, chromis, and damsels are all related so that can increase aggression (especially in small quarters). Link to comment
Lu Diamonds
Yeah I may have to adjust with the Clarki. Still new to this but the Yellowtailed blue was very skittish from the start. The clown has been chasing around the Chromis since. I'm like will the Chromis finally get a break. But he is very fast and on point I must say...lol Link to comment
Lu Diamonds
What can I put with the Clarkii and the Chromis???...don't want another Tyson vs Holyfield...gonna nickname him Clar-kill! My poor Damsel. And it was already very skittish from the start. I kept saying stop being a punk and come out and mingle a bit, and now I see why. He's in fish paradise saying,"see I told you". seabass
Since you a soliciting advice, I'd recommend getting a 40 gallon breeder for these fish. Otherwise, I'd get rid of the Clarkii. Here are some acceptable choices for your 14 gallon tank: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/aquarium-fish-supplies.cfm?c=15+2124 And another guide to help you make better choices: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/74703-lgreens-ultimate-guide-to-nano-fish/ Also make sure to check compatibility before you buy anything. Do some research. LiveAquaria is a good resource for learning about fish. Link to comment
Lu Diamonds
Seabass you are absolutely correct. Just left LFS, and they gave me the same advice. They said that other LFS that sold me the Clarkii should have advised me that it would be aggressive. But they gave a few pointers on what I can do ...thanks for the heads up. Link to comment

Lu Diamonds
Yes indeed my people, research, research and more research! Have been doing a great deal of that...took Mr.Clar-kiill(lol) to LFS and sent him on his merry way. I will admit I was sorry to see him go. And he gave me a heck of a hard time netting him. Had to move everything. Live rock, anemone, which he hosted and did have a serious affection for...But he had to go. Link to comment
