DurocShark
Is the Jr no longer available without a display? I don't want to pay for it when I have no desire to use it. It used to be available without one, but now even the Neptune website doesn't list a Jr without. Link to comment

It used to be available without one, but now even the Neptune website doesn't list a Jr without. Unfortunately it is not. I even emailed Neptune asking to buy just a JR. I've found the display useless. That said there is a guy with a used JR, temp probe and display for $200 on here. I have a friend who will buy the display from you for $50 if you buy that package. I don't know why he wants the display so bad but he does. I can't talk him out of it. Link to comment
DurocShark
Huh. Ok, I'm ordering one from BRS. Same price as everybody else, so I'd rather support BRS than Amazon. I just hate buying crap I don't want or need. Link to comment

The guy said it is only about 6 months old. Link to comment
reefernanoman
So how about if you have to reconfigure your Internet, or recalibrate your temperature sensor? How do you do that without a display? Link to comment
HarryPotter
So how about if you have to reconfigure your Internet, or recalibrate your temperature sensor? How do you do that without a display? Easy. Reconfiguring is done by plugging in the unit to your computer. Calibration of the temperature is also done online. Link to comment

reefernanoman
I honestly like just hitting the "feed mode" on my display instead of looking for my phone, computer, tablet, etc. to do so. But that's just me. I also like looking at the temperature on the display, instead of having to log into Apex Fusion just to do that if I'm home. Easy. Reconfiguring is done by plugging in the unit to your computer. Calibration of the temperature is also done online. So it's more convenient to grab your computer, drag it to your Apex, then connect it, instead of just hitting a few buttons on the display? Link to comment

DurocShark
So I hooked my Apex up last night finally. I've spent the past 30 minutes turning the lights on and off while watching with my DropCam and freaking my wife out (I'm at work, she's home). Link to comment

You don't need to hook your computer up to the Apex at all if you have everything setup correctly with a WIFI adapter. So I hooked my Apex up last night finally. I've spent the past 30 minutes turning the lights on and off while watching with my DropCam and freaking my wife out (I'm at work, she's home). haha nice. I've done that to my wife before. Recently I used the Apex to turn on a crockpot one hour after we left for work and turn it off 30 mins before we got home to cook a full chicken. haha Link to comment

True, but it still more convenient for me to hit one little arrow on my display than to be fumbling around with a laptop, tablet, etc. Link to comment

So ugly and clumsy. Really wish they would update it to have a nice LED display. Link to comment
DurocShark
Well, I'm already out of outlets and need to order the 8 outlet strip. Sigh... Here's where I am now: Heater Fan (chiller) MH light and light fan (I have a power strip hanging off this to start both at the same time) T5 Actinics I'd like to put the pumps and powerheads on here too so I can have an easy feeding mode. That means I need at least 3 more outlets. Well, no point in buying just another 4 outlet bar, so I guess I need to order an 8 outlet bar. Sigh. Link to comment
