Does size of BTA matter when hosting clownfish?

I just got a BTA the other day and its doing great! Full bloom during days and closes up at like a ball at night. Pretty cool.

It's currently attached to live rock in the same area where both of my clown hang out the majority of the time.

Whenever my clowns come near it, I can see the BTA reaching out for the fish. Weird. Is that normal?

But, Whenever the skunk shrimp comes to mess with the BTA, it closes up, expected.

My clowns wont host it! Maybe too early?

Does the size of the BTA have to do with attracting the clowns? It's about 2 inches in diameter when full bloom.

thanks

What kind of clownfish is it? In the wild, there are some species of clownfish that almost never host in a BTA. Captive clownfish can be less picky than wild clownfish, especially tank raised clownfish and adapt to host in a BTA. Hosting still is more likely if you provide the clownfish an anemone that it is "naturally" attracted to in the wild.

It can be really hit or miss with if or how soon a clownfish will host a bta. In my smaller tank which only has a single snowflake clown and a smaller rose bta, the fish took about 2 months to "host". I use the term "host" lightly because he just rubs up against the under side of the bta, he's a weirdo.

In my larger tank I have two stubby clowns and a large rose bta. It took about 4 months or so before the larger clown would even touch the bta. Now its in there most of the day and all night as well.
