Did I Overpay?

I feel like our LFS are extremely proud of what they sell. I picked this up from one for $55 and wanted to see what everyone thought. I did put the top of a frag plug in the sand bed under him for him to hopefully attach to.

Hard to tell how big it is, but 55 for any size clam is fairly reasonable I would say, many would say a good deal!

Do you like it? Is it worth $55 to you? If the answers to those questions are yes, then no, you didn't overpay. If the answers are no, then you did.

That's how I feel when I make purchases

I really like it but if i find out I could have got one that would be a higher grade or larger for the same price. I have seen clams here locally go for 85-100 and my experience with them is very little. This clam is about 1.5 inches from side to side.

Dont move it around. that pisses them off more than anything and the little guys are more prone to stress out than larger more established clams. looks like a nice pickup to me.

There's no real answer about pricing like this. It's all about what someone is willing to pay in this hobby for most livestock. If a clam is 85 bucks and you think it's too much for the clam, then $85 would be overpaying to you. If it's $85 and you think it's a great clam, then the $85 is worth it to you so it wouldn't be overpaying.

For me, i'd never buy a "designer coral" because I think hundreds of dollars for a single polyp or head is ridiculous for what you are getting. It's worth it to some people but not to me. Some people LOVE the MP series pumps and think the price is worth it. Other people see them as fancy water pushers and would rather spend a fraction of the cost on something that pushes water around their tank without control.

I agree that 55 is a good price. At my LFS (A.T.M.) they have a purple maxima that is 3-4 inches and it's $75 I think.

Imo that is overpriced, but only for where I am. Some areas for example throw coral (such as Duncan) in the garbage because no body is willing to pay, other places (where I live) charge 15-25 bucks a head for Duncan. Best rule of thumb is do your searching around and pay what YOU are willing to pay for that piece/animal.

The best place I've found is called Aquatic Treasures. Here's the address 3211 N Tenaya Way #107, Las Vegas, NV 89129.The owner is there sometimes.
