Nanoreefjoe
I plan on buying seachem matrix and putting it into a media bag is it possible to clean this if so how often? And how? Link to comment
seabass
There isn't an easy way to recharge activated carbon (once it's used up, it should be discarded). When it's being used in a reactor with a pre filter, you can (and should) frequently clean the prefilter. For your use, filter floss before the GAC will help the Matrix Carbon from getting prematurely clogged with debris (frequently replace or clean the floss). Link to comment
Bill Nye
Are you referring to the carbon or the biomedia? I used to use the biomedia on my last two tanks and I either dunked it in my 5 gallon bucket of old water after a water change if it wasn't too filthy or I'd run fresh Saltwater through it. It is really good at accumulating junk so I would definitely rinse it at least once a month. Link to comment
seabass
Are you referring to the carbon or the biomedia? Good point. I had Matrix Carbon in my head, but they have more than one Matrix product. You're probably right. Link to comment
Bill Nye
Good point. I just had Matrix Carbon in my head, but they have several Matrix products. Yep that annoyed me when the renamed everything to matrix! Link to comment
