Sweeper tentacles - Stress harmful?

Well a few of my LPS have recently gone on the warpath, my Hammer Coral is pissed at everyone around it, which mainly are shrooms growing like weeds, so no biggie there. And my Brain Coral and Pavona coral seem to be pissed at eachothers proximity, allthough both are still way beyond striking distance.

So what I want to know is this: Is being on "high alert" so to speak, with sweeper tentacles fully extended actually harmful to the corals themselves? Or can I just let them be as long as their not actually able to strike eachother?

My pavonas sweepers are way to short to reach the brain, and while my brain is trying his best and could in theory strike the pavona, the strong currents completely carry away his long sweepers in the other direction.

What I'm concerned with is any real or imagined stress factors here that could adversly affect the colonies health.

Not a concern, really. I've never noticed any harm to the coral itself from this behavior.

In theory, the corals are having to expend additional energy to extend and maintain sweepers. On the other hand, they can gain nutrition/energy by absorbing their neighbors.

Oh its definitely NOT a normal feeding response, I've seen them often enough in their feeding stage to know better.
