Martin in China
I have 1 blue yellow tail Damsel and 1 bicolor Dottyback. I would like to have one (maybe 2) more fish in my 20G reef tank, which one would be OKAY to put together whit those bullies I have now? Link to comment
ClownGobyDood
maybe another damsel but absolutely no dociles! i learned the hard way , i had a blue streak damsel and when i plopped in a yellow banded possum wrass he ripped him fin from fin Link to comment
rone_kevin66
6 line would hold its own or another damsel. Blue velvet are nice looking just way to aggressive. Link to comment
Martin in China
Do you guys mean with another Damsel that I could have the same as I have now (yellow tail blue Damsel) ?? I would actually like that. Link to comment
ClownGobyDood
Yeah that could work I've seen like 30 In a 50 gallon at all seas (warehouse) and they just were chilling without making any moves so u r good Link to comment
Martin in China
3, 4 or more will be ok...but with 2 I'm not sure and in my 20 Gallon tank I don't think I can house more than 3 fish....or can I? Link to comment
clownfitch
Adding most any fish to a 20 gallon tank with 2 established known aggressive species is going to be a risk regardless of what you are adding. My advice would be a different species then what you have all together and add it at lights out. Sixline wrasse would be a good candidate. Make sure you have a top on your tank also. Someone will likely try to jump with the sparks that are sure to fly. Link to comment
Martin in China
Is it safer to let those 2 fish be the only fish in the tank and add 2 cleaner shimp?...I'm kinda scared that the Dottyback will see them as food, although they will be bigger (or same size) as him/her. Link to comment

My yellow tail was in the tank 3 hours when I noticed my peppermint shrimps tail on one side of the tank ripped to bits and the rest of it hiding in a rock before it died.. Not worth it man Link to comment
jedimasterben
Considering yellowtail damsels are one of the most docile of the family, you'll be ok with most fish that can hold up to the dottyback, so some wrasses, chromis, other damsels (Talbot's, kupang, springers), clownfish. Link to comment
Martin in China
I'm going for a pair of skunks, they are twice as big as the damsel. Link to comment
Martin in China
It's still going well with my hermit crabs and shrimp, the 2 Halloween hermit have molded and are now up and about, the 2 shrimp just molded last night. Those shrimp are like twins, always together and now even molding at the same time. The fish don't even look at the crab or shrimp, even at feeding time. Link to comment
SquishyFishy
The term you're wanting is M-o-l-T not mold. Not trying to be critical, but I was so smiling reading your last post. My yellowtail Damsel is a perfect citizen so far. But I don't think I'd risk another. A cardinal would be a good choice. Link to comment
