PathOfDeception Posted May 13, 2015 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Ok so my HOB skimmers outflow is making my 2 T5 units sit too far forward. I need to figure out a way to lift my T5 fixtures. I have 2 fixtures (Aquatic Life Marine Marquis 2x24W) Anyone has any amazing ideas or pictures of ways to lift my fixtures? I can't figure out a way! I can do DYI stuff but I can't think about DIY plans. If anyone can help that'd be great! Link to comment

I want something that looks good and isn't too overly complicated. I will take any advice! Link to comment
jaynkeel Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 Cheap and easy way would be if you could rotate the legs so they point up then drill a hole in each leg and use an s hook bent closed with a pair of pliers then use chain for hanging or cable. You would only really be drilling like a 1/8 in hole in each leg so you would not be damaging the light for future use. Cheap and easy cost of maybe $10 U.S. . Link to comment

jaynkeel Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 Then I would go with a hole on either end cap and a threaded eyebolt stainless if you can find one.I know around here @ like homedepot they have the stainless but I think the smallest I have seen require like a 1/4 in or so size hole. I have never owned one of those lights so wasn't sure how good the legs are attached. Link to comment

That seems to be the best looking and easy to do way. Would 1/2 conduit be strong enough for 2 fixtures (2 bulb fixtures) I would like to make them adjustables if possible. Any ideas? Link to comment
bdevillier19 Posted May 20, 2015 Share Posted May 20, 2015 yes 1/2" would be plenty strong unless the fixtures are abnormally heavy. i use the conduit standoffs and mounted them to my stand. 1 up top and 1 down below on each piece of conduit. they take a 7/16 socket to tighten up on the conduit. if you need to adjust the height, loosen the nut, adjust height, tighten back up. easy. Thanks for the help btw! by chain you mean to connect the conduit to the light? buy a hanging kit that uses the steel cable. thats what most people use. but how you hang it is up to you, the configuration of the light, and how much you want to spend and dont forget your level of DIY skills.
