Murphs_Reef
Hi, I have a toadstool leather which is rotting / melting, the polyps are still opening up however? Is been consumed by around 10%. Is there much I can do to help it! Cut away the rote? I got it very cheap as it didn't look in the best condition, algae covered etc, I have spend a week bringing it back to health and it was beginning to look great.. Shame... Any suggestions? Thanks Link to comment
dillct
leathers get pissed and shrivel with their polyps retracted, they also slime and will stay like this for up to a week or so...but if it is indeed rotting that is bad and I'd get it out ASAP. I've had that happen with a yellow fiji, but every other leather I've had has been pretty hardy. Can you post a pic? Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
My camera can't get a good enough picture, (ipad) but is defo rotting at the edge, can I cut away the bad bit aggressively as if to frag, just leave a little? As the polyps on the unaffected side are out and happy? Or not worth the risk Link to comment
Harrisonbored
If you've only had it a week, and it was covered in algae when you got it, then it could just be shedding. Either way I'd give it another week to recover before cutting/fragging it...it's already stressed enough. If your tank param's are good and its not being stung by another coral then it "should" start to recover...Leathers are pretty resilient. Link to comment
