Hey fellow reefers:)

I'm thinking of going for a 48x24x12 peninsula style reef and I'm sure you already know my question...What would be my best option as far as nanobox goes? Thanks!

Right now I have some lps, softies, and a photosynthetic gorg that I would like to transfer, but I would like to go for a few sps pieces.

It's difficult to light a 24" width with a single LED array, though I know some do like the 'half lit' look, and if that's the direction you want to go, then have Dave do a 36" fixture with six arrays all in a row.

If it were me, I'd do two 36" strips with three arrays each. I did four on each of my strips in my array, but I much prefer a distributed light look.

?wow amazing! I wish I had those skills. What do you think about running a single array over a 48x18x12?

Assuming you're running a 6 bulb fixture, you can toss out the middle two bulbs and have a line of LEDs in the middle.

A single Nanobox array is good for a 12x12-16x16 area. The LED area is roughly 1.25" square.

Or do you mean a single strip? That would make more sense lol. You won't have coverage across the 24" width with a single strip, so the outer few inches of each side will be much less intense, though to be honest most people keep corals within the middle third of their tank, so it's usually not a problem, and at that point only visuals come into play (some like the tank to look fully lit end to end, some like to see the change in the light). :)

Yes I meant the single 36" strip lol? Although, you are turning me on to the "dimming at the edges" look. That could be sweet and add extra volume. Or I could go with the 48x18x12 and do a single 36" strip and it would light the entire tank? And you're saying I should go with 6 led clusters on the single strip?

By line of LEDs, do you mean have Dave add some led strips in the center and then have two full spectrum led clusters on each end?

I meant a line of arrays/clusters in the middle. Like if we look at jedimasterben's fixture, he has two lines of arrays but instead of running the two, you could do one line of the arrays in the middle and just run two bulbs on each side of the LEDs. You could also run two lines of arrays like his but that's up to you. aha

Four DUO's would be ideal. You could spread them out as you want as well run them all off the same controller.

When buying more than two I can help on the price.

If you went a HYBRID way, the options are endless. If you want all LED, above would be great. That is what I am doing on my new ELOS 120.

This all sounds awesome as hell but phew, we all know budgets are tight these days? I love nanobox, and Dave I love the service you provide as well. Maybe I can only afford lighting nanos with nanobox LEDs lol.
