I am planning on starting up a 10 gallon tank and was curious what you guys would suggest to use for lighting. I would like to keep my light budget around $200 max. I plan on haveing a mixed reef with some softies, some LPS, and some SPS. LMK if you need any other info and thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks,

Ron

The AI Prime comes in right at $200. You could probably find a used NanoBox for that price as well but you would probably lose a few features.

Depends on the shape of the tank? if its quite tall i'd go for a couple of PAR38's or a kessil (not sure if thats in your budget though) to make sure you get good PAR all the way down, they aren't as programmable but I've never gotten growth anywhere near as good or such a good overall colour. Plus when you upgrade the lights will still be usable on your new tank as spot lights.

If its long and thin PAR bulbs won't have enough spread on them so i'd go for something like the AI prime. The Primes look so cool with their smart phone wizardry but tbh i've never used my phone with any controller ever. i like the idea but once i've set the light i never really change it so its up to you whether you think you'll use that feature and are willing to pay for it.

I am sorry I should have mentioned it in the first post, it is a standard 10 gallon black rim tank. It is going in my home office.
