Manatee Grass vs Shoal Grass vs...

I have a mangrove tank that I am looking to add some seagrass to. I was looking at either manatee grass or shoal grass, anything else I should consider? Any restrictions on shipping to California?

If a seagrass doesn't work out, then I will use GSP to act as a grass.

Thanks

Only restrictions are the nine banned Caulerpa species. Anything not on that list is OK.

Are you looking to do grass as a background or foreground? Foreground, Cladophora sp., C. Brachypus, C. Prolifera all look good to me as grasses (although they aren't).

C. Paspaloides looks really cool as a background 'sort-of' grass.

That was Caulerpa Brachypus. Really cool macro, a lot like Glossostigma (from the freshwater world). My only complaint about it is that it loves to grow in your rocks too, which is good if you want that look but sucks if you just want it to carpet. It grows extremely fast so you need to be diligent about pruning.

I just sold the only extra I have, but I normally have extra, maybe PM me in a month or so. I haven't seen it for sale online before.

I want to put the grass all around the mangrove roots. There is an 8" cube that the rocks cover (er, mostly. still need to finish it off) that is filled with mostly mud, and a top layer of sand.

Cool, I like the tank! C. Brachypus makes the most sense for the size, but will grow up the mangroves, into the rocks, and shoot runners out over the rocks into the water unless you prune every few days. It looks really cool in a natural grow-everything-into-each-other kind of way, but can be a pain if you prefer control.

C. Paspaloides grows too far apart to act as a good cover unless you planted each rhizome separately.

I'd lean towards C. Prolifera as a good choice here, won't take over your rocks or grow onto the mangroves, but will still cover nicely.

I haven't had turtle grass but I think that would also look really cool right there, although it might not look good if the WP10 is blowing it around.

Cladophora wouldn't work there, not tall enough to make sense.
