Nuvo Fusion 20 pump suggestion

Hi all,

I am setting up this tank in my sons room. So far it is running well, but the Tunze Nanostream 6095 pump I am using is a little too powerful and takes up a lot of real estate. Since it is in his bedroom I need a pump that is silent, or near silent.

I have an MP10 ES W that I am tempted to upgrade to the Quiet Drive driver. However, I don't know if the upgrade will make the pump quiet enough.

can someone suggest a pump that is suitable for this aquarium and very quiet? Thanks all.

Just run a Siccee 1.5 or 2.0 for the return. that's enough flow

is that pump too much flow? Pretty expensive upgrade for a 20. Are there any other better pumps than the stock for a price point around 20-40?

no sadly. and cheap?! you should know better with this hobby ;). but if you get that pump (check the forums here for a cheaper one) you won't need anything in the display tank. Looks a lot cleaner

Hmmm. I didn't think of that. I have an MJ1200 I could use. But that will create enough flow? Guess I could try it out and see.

Is your MP10 noisy? With it on a 20, you should be able to keep it at 50% or so, and that should create far less noise. But I agree with the above on the Sicce pumps. I have one on my Fusion 30, and it is dead silent. Worth every penny

Are you running this on your fusion 20? And if so can you take a video of it?

I was thinking about buying an MP10 but if you say this pump is strong enough to keep power heads out of the tank than its worth just upgrading the return pump.

So just a powerful return pump is enough with the spin streams? I too am making this upgrade and would rather not have any powerheads in it, if I have to it's an mp10 for aesthetic reasons lol

I mean.. my Acro is fully opened. The Blasto and Acan look great. Anemone is happy and bubbly

Wow bro tank looks good! What light are you running and the 2.0 or 1.5?

Thanks for the video Flaming prawn. Your tank looks great. One pump is tempting. What model are you using, the 1.5 or 2.0?

Good to hear DocReef. Will plug the MJ1200 in tomorrow.

Fishstiks, my MP10 is pretty loud. I have it on a 65 gallon at 100% though. It is louder than the MP40's that I have. Even at 50% I am sure it will make more noise than I am looking for. i may still upgrade it to the Quiet Drive since its only $50 and see how that works. Just need to find one as they seem to not be in stock anywhere. My LFS told me to contact Ecotech directly for the driver so I will try that on Monday.

I think I'm going to sell my RW-4 and upgrade the back pump to a Sicce 1.5 with spin stream nozzles. Good idea for a mixed reef?

You could change the return pump to a maxi jet 900 or 1200, gives tons of flow and its super quiet, and take out the power head.

I added a MJ 1200 yesterday and removed the Tunze pump. Flow seems pretty good. It is a bit louder than the stock pump. My son didn't complain about the noise yet so it will probably be fine. I ordered the driver upgrade for my MP 10, and will add that once I convert it.

The noise is all in how you mount the pump, I modified the stand and only use 2 suction cups , but they are not the original ones they are clear and seam to dampen the noise better
