I found this setup on CL recently and want to see what your thoughts were. I know ill always be tinkering and such, but for the most part, I would like to do this right once.

Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 30L

Comes with the Innovative Marine 30L Stand

IM Ghost Skimmer

IM media reactor

aftermarket inTank Media baskets and return pump.

Let me know your thoughts, recommendations, criticisms.

IMO, its a great first tank. Thats a nice starter package. Can I ask the listing price?

Did they mention any lighting?

I addition to that package, you would need:
ATO

Heater

Lighting

Nice things to have:

A powerhead for additional circulation - 30l is a long tank

upgraded return pump

IM Spinstreams.

ATO is optional, nice to have, but optional. You can get the tank and get it up and running while you search for lighting. cycle will start without a light

I picked up a IM30L on Craigslist just over a month ago and love it! It came with one upgraded media basket, heater, two spinstreams and I paid $300 for it out the door. I added a Tunze 9001 protien skimmer, Tunze powerhead, Tunze ATO and for lighting went with a 36" Orbit Marine LED. I love the light and its remote features, though I don't think it's the one if you want to do hard corals. For softies I think it's perfect and I needed a light that was low profile.

Great tank and really fills the space nicely!

Would a 40 breeder be a better option than the 30 long? Im really not committing to anything before I'm sure I have the best deal possible.

Also im in an apartment that is why I was looking for something on the smaller size. Is that good or bad?

But optimistically, I would like to have a sump no matter what size for more water and better looking display.

They way I look at it, you're losing about 5 gallons in the rear chamber and 4 inches of width from the swimming space with the fusion 30L. A 40b will give you way more swimming space, scape space and so on. However you lose the back chamber to hide things like: heater ATO, sensors, probes, skimmers etc.
