LED driver urgent help

Hello guys its been a lot of time since my last post, now I am here because I need some urgent help, I have a JBJ 28G SPS dominated tank, it has a Nanotuners 1050 dimmable retrofit, it has 3 drivers one controls the cree blue led lights, the other one the white ones and the third one the 50/50 lights.

The 3 driver are Thomas Research TRC-040S105DS model, something like 2 years ago one of them had a malfunction (the 50/50) and I had to import it into my country from USA, I found it just in one store online and I found out they are not pretty commercial.

well, the problem is yesterday two of the burned out the blue and white ones, now I have to import them again, the paperwork and the shipping will take me around 2 or 3 week, my sps will not make it trough that time.

So I am hopping someone here could recommend me a more commercial brand that have the same specs of the ones i have so i would get them.

I could get a meanwell driver locally but i really don't know how to know which one to get, so if someone could point me in the right direction i will be really glad.

thanks a lot for any help.

First off, what country are you from? That may help us in pointing you in the right direction for suppliers.

Second, TRP drivers are also sold under the Inventronics name (EUC-040S128DS should be the Inventronics equivalent), which seem to be more widely distributed through major wholesalers.

If you want to replace the TRP drivers with a Meanwell alternative, it's not going to be quite as cut and dry as just swapping the driver. Most of the Meanwell drivers that will take a resistance input use 100K pots. The Nanocustoms setups were using 10K pots. Not a big deal, but something you need to be aware of.

One Meanwell option would be the LPF-40D-42. It has very similar performance ranges to the driver you are looking to replace.

Hello Evilc66 thanks a lot for your answer, I am from Guatemala, here I am able to find the Meanwell drivers and that is why I was thinking to replace it, since I have not knowledge in led lights or in any light to say the true i am going to have a hard time on this.

I will look for the LPF-40D-42, i am pretty sure i will find it here.

about the 10k pots and 100k pots difference, maybe you could help me to understand it, why it affect? do i need to replace the pots too?

thanks a lot for your help

You will need to replace the pots with 100K versions. While the basic functionality would be the same with a 10K on the LPF driver (it's not looking at the actual resistance, just the ratio from min to max), using a 10K would probably draw more current than the LPF would like, and could cause damage. The datasheet says to use 100K, so that's what you should use.
