I meant to write this a while back (I think I put my last order in 5 months or so ago). John is probably one of the most under-rated gems in the reefing hobby. Sores and scores of reef keepers have to do little work to keep their tanks clean. We actually have diverse clean up crews and are not forced to use the stupid margarita snails (which can't live for long at reef temps) and astrea snails that flip over and die as our sole cleaners.

First let me start of by saying that I have no idea why I input a number for the small ceriths. I should just write "bill me for whatever you send." John always seems to over ship these guys. I usually give them away to friends -and I would GLADLY pay for each and every one of them... They are KILLER cleaners. I keep VERY porous rock and NOTHING can get inside like these little guys. Plus they are CONSTANTLY churning my sand by burying themselves. Which is great for a tank too small to house a cucumber!

Second I was actually looking to order some snails that disappeared from the website. I was bummed since they are one of my favorite little cleaners (also great at getting in every hole and under my rocks -something no other snail will do). Since they were not posted on the site I inquired if he still sold them or if they were gone forever. It turned out he was simply out of them. When my shipment arrived it HAD the snails in it. John had either pulled them from his own tank or drove a ridiculous distance -like hours- to get them (I don't remember option he went with -as it was a long time ago- but those were the two possibilities). I was BLOWN AWAY!! I have a < 5 gallon display and while these guys may not normally be "cost effective cleaners" (as John points out on the site) they are worth EVERY cent in a small tank. They are 80 cents a pop and about 1/2 the size of a dwarf cerith. The only negative I have to these guys is that they LOVE cleaning out small nooks and crannies including my rotating Hyrdor Flow -and on a consistent basis jam it. I can easily remedy this with a press fit shield and just have not done it. Point is they REALLY explore everything they can.

Third I have ordered from John many times. I have not only never been disappointed but am ALWAYS blown away. That is a pretty impressive claim for someone who pretty much only sells snails and algae. I cannot imagine how someone in this end of the business blows customer after customer away with their interactions -but John somehow manages to do it again and again.

Fourth if you are looking for a diverse and hardy clean up crew... Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just call John. Use his guide for what to select for your tank and you will be stoked! If it looks like way too many snails -just trust him. If you feel you need something that don't match what he is saying, email him, he knows a LOT more about snails and clean up crews that you ever will (and that is coming from a guys who has keep reef tanks for nearly 25 years and nanos for 13 -I joined this site in 2002). He will also make you the most popular guy in your local reefing community when you start calling around trying to find homes for your new dwarf ceriths that he shipped you. I can honestly stay that I have kept about 40+ (maybe even 50??) in my little 5 gallon display and they are SUPER happy. They are not an eyesore as most of them are buried in the sand during the day. At night my tank looks like revenge of the snails. But I think I have cleaned my glass maybe 3 times in the last 5 months!!

**Also good to note: I once ordered Chaeto from John -for a past tank. It was TOTALLY different Chaeto from the stuff hobbyists grow around here. It was super dense and crunchy -very fibrous and not stringy. It was like a tight crunchy ball of fibrous tubing... This stuff grows very well and MORE importantly played host to a who group of pods that my other Chaeto seemed not to!! Even if you already have Chaeto I would still put in an order for this stuff too. Diversity is always the key to success. Sometimes this stuff would out grow my other chaeto sometimes my other chaeto would grow faster than this stuff.... but having something growing rapidly at all times and having two radically different homes for pods in my fuge made the world of difference in my system! I also ordered his uvula algae -for a past tank. It seemed to breakup and disintegrate in my fuge. I thought I had lost it. Then is suddenly appeared on the input to my fuge and the input to my tank. These areas were super high flow and were prone to unsightly hair algae. The uvula totally out competed the hair in these two locations and look a LOT nicer. I had the super green crisp lettuce type algae that grew instead of crummy stringy hair. It was awesome and copepods seemed to love living in the stuff.

I could literally write pages and pages about why you should order from this guy!!

Thanks again. You pretty much have me as a loyal customer for as long as I have a tank! You own every order for snails that I will place -as you have earned that right through amazing service and an incredible selection of high quality items.

Can't argue with reason. :)

I had no idea John's mom was active here on NR.

LOL! Great post and I agree!

I am so dense  I literally read that post three times trying to find John's mom being mentioned. Wow, complete blond moment.
