patriot
I have been doing a bunch of research on sumps and designs and I am answering a lot of my own questions, but some questions I have to ask. So far for my set up I have a 10 gallon tank and I want to build a sump for it. Sump for tank 15 gallon tall 20x10x17 Since I do not want to drill into my operating tank I plan on adding a CPR CS50 overflow, rated at 300gph 3/4 pvc running down into my sump then reducer to 1" into a cpr 4" filter sock 7" long Then bubble trap into where I will put a reef octopus classic ss skimmer 110, skimmer needs a minimum of 7-8" of water, then bubble trap into last chamber where I will have a brs gfo and carbon reactor and then a eheim 1048 return pump at 160gph. As far as I know I can run a foot of water in there which would put my total water volume of both tanks at around 20 gallons minus the rock and sand. So what I am asking is will this setup work? I will also be putting a 75w heater in the second chamber. Link to comment

patriot
Well I couldn't find much on building an overflow on a running tank. Could you help me in the right direction? Link to comment
patriot
Actually now that I get to thinking about it, I might as well just buy a seaclear 30 gallon tank and just start new. I only just started this 10 gallon so instead of going through a headache of trying to move all the sand, live rock, and livestock out, might as well start all new. Link to comment

patriot
So then do I need to match the overflow output to my skimmer output? This is confusing. Link to comment

patriot
I thought I read that somewhere. I'm gonna go with the sea clear 30g that's 36x12x18. Glass holes has a kit at 700gph, from what I've read I only need 150-300 gph max of flow and for that return pump about the same at 3ft approximately. Link to comment

patriot
I don't think I have planned one because I haven't researched that term yet. I've heard of it, and I believe you're talking about bio-pellets or a refugium. Am I correct? Link to comment
tetraodon
bioload basically is how much live stuff your going to have. the more live things, or the messier the eater, the higher the bioload. basically what do you plan on keeping in the tank? Link to comment
