Spoon Fed EM1
hey everyone! so i'm new to this whole led system and custom light adjustments thing... what's an ideal setting for great coloration and coral growth? at the moment i have it 16K and at 35% hanging over the tank at 9" please help me and i can barely even know how to use ecotech live lol thanks, -Phi Link to comment
VW_TDI_02
There is no real ideal setting. The important thing is to find a combination that you like and then start low. Gradually you can start increasing the intensity since you don't want to bleach your corals. Link to comment
masterbuilder
Sounds like a good starting place (35%). Like VW said, there is no exact setting. Lots depends on what you tank dimensions are and what corals you have. 35% is very low in a 200 gallon tank but pretty high in a 10 gallon tank. Another thing to consider is LEDs are they are so adjustable that its hard to leave the settings alone. Go very slow and dont increase the light more that a couple of percent a week and avoid large changes in the color temps. Link to comment
Spoon Fed EM1
thanks guys! i wish i really knew how to mess with the schedule settings... i previewed it and the coloring was just horrible. how do i get to set the schedule with my own personal color settings? i turned the light onto 18K and it just seems alot better! VW_TDI_02
I believe you should be able to adjust each color on some sort of line graph but I haven't used it myself. Link to comment
mpsti05
Well I use my apex to program my radion but still kinda similar to ecotech live. So I start the day with some 20k 15% ramp up time from 1145am to 1230pm. Then transition to some 18k from 1230 to 230@40% then from 230-430 transitions to 14k @75% peaks at 430pm. And stays at 75% till 630, then transitions to 18k at 40% by 8pm. Then 20k and slow decline to 0% by 1015pm. Hope that makes sense Link to comment

KyleRay31
I like using the radiant color template. Just set what intensity, on and off times you want and you're set. Link to comment
DocReef
You can find preset settings online that you can upload in Ecotech Live if you don't want to mess with the settings too much. I've found some good ones. Link to comment
Spoon Fed EM1
so i've been playing with reeflink nonstop for 2 days straight, i finally got the hang of what on earth to do with this thing haha! i can now say that i've finally been able to set my tank light to the liking of my corals... they love it! lots of polyp extentions all over the place! VW_TDI_02
That's awesome!!! I think that's one of the issues with LEDs in that they are a bit difficult to get the hang of. MH and T5HO are just plug and play with a few bulb combinations but LEDs are far more specific. The fact that the light is directed directly down also makes things look different when trying to tune individual colors. Also, the fact that we are adjusting individual colors can make it difficult because they look different to us than to corals. For example, royal blue doesn't usually look super intense but it definitely packs a punch and can easily bleach out some coral if you aren't careful. Link to comment

So the overall intensity across all channels is at 30% but when setting the overall color temperature, royal blue is set to 100%? Not sure if I'm understanding that right or if I'm even explaining myself well enough to be understood, haha. And a lot of people like the blue look. Some people criticize it by calling it Windex but I think it can look good. I prefer mine a bit more white but the extra blue definitely helps corals pop and fluoresce. Link to comment

I love the blue look, it just looks dope... my corals love the blue lights, I've tried a more whiter look, the corals hated it lol Link to comment

You could post the percentages so that if any one else comes by this thread they will be able to test it out and see if they like it too. Link to comment
