70w mh in a bc29

There used to be a few, but MH has fallen out of favor of late. It's still a perfectly good light source, but LED retrofits run a lot cooler and don't require as much effort to keep the tank cool.

If you do want to keep the the MH retrofit idea, then you will have to DIY it. It's not hard really. Just pick a nice low profile reflector (Hellolights has a good one), bolt it in, run your wires and fire it up. I would suggest going to a 150W MH for a tank of that size though. The power level is more appropriate for a tank of that size, and will offer a much larger selection of bulbs than 70W.

yeah I also think 150w would be better. I want to retain the stock hood so hopefully I can find something low profile.

I don't know what the cooling in that hood is like, but you'll almost certainly need to upgrade it.

I remember seeing the old my retrofits using like six+ fans to keep the good cool then you still needed a chiller to keep the water cool or another set of fans at the very least.
