Tank stand question

This is a stand I built for my 65g, I would like to leave the top open like this since tank is drilled on the bottom, just wanna make sure I'm not gonna have a cracked bottom later on. I know the tank will be sitting on the frame, I'm just scared it might sag some and crack after all the rock and sand is in the tank. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Oh and sorry my dogs ass is in one of the pics

i think you'd be safer putting something on there and drilling that also. It's less about the sagging (although that may be an issue after years of weight) but if you drop a rock by accident or something knocks one over there's nothing under the bottom of the tank to support it in places and it could just give.

Glass can be super tough and usually it'd be fine, but you never know when it just decides to develop a hair line pressure point and POP!!!

I agree better safe than sorry. By the way I like the blue stain.

If it's one of those standard glass tanks with the black plastic rims, the bottom pane rests half an inch or so above whatever the tank is actually sitting on. All of the weight of the tank is supported by the bottom rim, not the bottom pane of glass, so it wouldn't make any difference if there was something under it or not, as long as there is something supporting the rim all the way around.

yea it's the aqueon 65 reef ready, it's got plenty of support all the way around for the frame, just wasn't to sure about the glass sagging any. I've seen bigger tanks with stands built the same way, just wanted some more opinions on it. Thanks I may just put a thin sheet down or something

What kind of 65? Got pics?

no pics of actual tank, I'm stuck at work till next wed.

thanks the wife actually picked it out. She is better at that stuff then me.
