Please help ID white string on zoas

Hello. I was wondering if anyone can help me ID what this white string is growing around my zoas. I've noticed that is started to grow more these past 2 weeks, and I've had the zoas for almost a month now. I've dipped them 2x in Coral Rx and since then these have started to appear.

I've searched online and the only thing that's come up for me is that it's some sort of fungus.

The only other corals in the tank are a xenia, mushroom, and acan. Water parameters have been stable. 0 ammonia and nitrite, and ~5ppm nitrate.

Please help.

Photo was taken this morning.

Doesn't look good, are the strings slimy?

Not at all. All but one of the polyps (2nd from the right) open every night. Any idea what it could be?

BTW, the photo was taken in the morning.

Could it be an algae bloom / growth. I assume it wasn't like that when you bought them. I've seen my frag disc "color" up. A little turkey baster blast as I'm cleaning my tank the plugs look nice and white again. Just another symptom of a new tank?

Just tossing out ideas I haven't experienced what I see in your picture

How often do you clean the disc? Not 100% on what that is, but I've lost a few zoa frags due to not cleaning them.. Zoas, the mats especially, build up sooo much crap at the base that grow all sorts of nasties, I used to blast mine daily with a baster to keep them clean, the ones I didn't clean in quarantine tank I forgot about though.. Well let's just say I wouldn't be able to give those away now.

Thanks for the responses. The orange that you see is actually from the glue. Being new to the hobby, I didn't know cleaning the disc was essential. I turkey blast every other day, when I feed, and when I do a water change. I think I'll take them out tomorrow and see if I can pull out those strings, and then do another dip.

No worries, we're all here to help :) Try using a soft toothbrush to clean it off, it looks fairly loose, won't damage the zoas if you're gentle. Keep on top of cleaning them regularly and that should help avoid any more build up.
