Nikon lens advice

I am looking for a second Nikon lens that I can use for FTS shots of my tank and general everyday photo use. Right now I have a 100mm macro which works great but the FOV is way too small for some of the landscape shots I want to take. I am torn between getting a 35mm f/1.8 prime, or maybe shelling out a bit more and going with the 50mm f/1.4 prime for better low light capabilities. If I decide to instead go with a zoom, I was thinking of Nikon's 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens. I would be taking shots of the tank from about 3-4 feet away. Does anyone have any experience with any of these lenses and wouldn't mind letting me know about it?

For full frame camera 50mm is considered a Normal perspective lens and for a crop sensor lens 35mm. For indoor shooting of most tanks I find I need a wider angle to get a full tank shot.

I apologize, I forgot to mention which camera I have. I use a Nikon D90, so DX crop sensor camera. So basically, the 35 would act like a 50 and the 50 would act more like, what? A 75 or so? So basically the 50 would be too large. Good to know. So if we take the 50 out of the lineup, any thoughts on what might work better? A 35mm prime walk-about camera, or a 18-140 zoom that might fit more general landscape etc. shots? I would like excellent picture quality being the primary factor, I know primes have awesome quality, I am not so sure if the zoom would be good enough....

The Nikon 35mm f1.8 AFS DX lens is known for being sharp and is a great choice at $200 new. I am not familiar with the 18-140 so can't comment on it. Another lens I like for DX is the Nikon 16-85 AF-S DX lens with image stabilization. It sells for $500.

Check out the 17-55 2.8.

I have the 50 1.4 and it's tack sharp. great for portraits. limited view makes it hard for tank shots though.
