jeremycee
futurebuild by jcrump_88, on Flickr My friend cleaned up a garage today of a previous shop owner and got a crap load of free brand new tanks, food, salt, etc. I got this 10 x 10 x 10 deep blue cube i am thinking of modding into an AIO to replace my current 3g jbj pico. What are your thoughts on a clean transfer ? water volume is roughly the same maybe less. I'm also thinking of going bare bottom. Link to comment

jeremycee
Ain't no such thing as a "free" tank... Well, I did use a bit of gas on my 2 mile drive over to his house to pick it up. Drill and sunp it make it a gorgonian tank! that would be cool! Link to comment

I have yet to have a tank that I did not spend more that 2X of the cost on lights alone, before filtration, live rock, sand, and stock. Still, a sweet setup! Link to comment

jaynkeel
I did a center island tank with the drain in the center on a 12 x 12 deep blue a few years ago. Still running today, build thread is here somewhere if ya wanna have a look. Turned out to be a cool little tank thats dead silent, well when my cheap ass return pump isn't acting up lol. dpoltsdsu
Are you going for a specific type of tank or a general mixed reef? Link to comment

jeremycee
Are you going for a specific type of tank or a general mixed reef? just everything from my current tank in the banner in my sig. mostly zoanthids and sps. I really want to convert my tank into an AIO because I've been having problems with my clean up crew knocking into my auto top off and setting off the sensor. Its nice to hide away all of the wires also for a cleaner display. Does anyone know a good place to pickup some acrylic for my false wall Link to comment

1.0reef
I'd either do a sump (Preferable, but more expensive and complicated) or a HOB setup. I dislike AIO setups because the back space can be cramped, they aren't changed very easily, and take away precious display space. If I had that setup, I'd sump it, and do a little "deepwater" setup of either the atlantic (Small Liopropoma, Parasphyraenops, Schultzea, Serranus, Bluntnose Basslet, Gramma linki, etc) or pacific (Liopropoma, Tryssogobius, plectranthias pelicieri, Navigobius, Trimma, etc) or if you're more into coral, do a species tank for some cool goby or blenny.
