Bluefish Mini Hook Up

With the new Bluefish Mini becoming a standard and over 50 people receiving them this week/weekend I wanted to make sure there was no confusion.

Plug the USB power supply into power, insert WIFI card, download APP ( Google Play or Apple App Store ) and connect Bluefish to tablet/phone device.

Plug the controller plug into Bluefish. With the arrow facing UP plug the controller plug into the 2nd set of pins.

Simple as that! Hope this clears things up for a few people. :)

I was struggling with mine until I remembered that wifi was switched off on my phone. I still have an unlimited plan so rarely have wifi on. After that confusion, it worked like a charm.

Just hooked mine up with my new retro kit from Dave last night. Extremely easy setup! Love the 4 channel upgrade with the bluefish mini

Hi Dave I got the full bluefish from u with a duo about 6 months ago but I have a second tank and have a Kessil to go with that tank thinking of getting the mini to control the duo and the full bluefish for the Kessil. I know that I need a cable to connect the Kessil to the full bluefish but do I need different connection for the duo to the mini? Thanks

Thanks Dave. I am still considering the Bluefish Mini. Contemplating getting the Apex though. But if I do go with the Bluefish I will contact you. Thanks so much, love my lights only reason I went with Kessil this time was i could not pass up the price tag I got it for. Thanks again

Alright. This looks easy but I feel stupid.. the app goes into a BlinkUp screen and the WiFi card on the Mini just flashes red. I can't get into the App setting due to naturally the BlinkUp isn't what I WANT.

If you are connecting a tide and a duo to the bluefish mini do you just plug one into the second set of pins and the other into the third set ?

Curious what was it?

I don't wanna tell.. it's embarrassing. haha.

I just didn't do the original screen blinking thing correctly.

I just received and connected my Tide today and I LOVE it! Great good, Dave!

When I paired my phone with the Bluefish controller, it said to make sure the output was 5v. I looked through the Bluefish manual and it advised the same, depending on which driver is used. Do I need to change the output voltage jumper or has it already been done?

This is for the full Bluetooth. You are set. No need to freak out, it won't blow up for another four years ;)

  • 4 weeks later...

I cant get blink up to work. My card is blinking, then I point it while really close at my flashy android screen. It says configuring, and then fails. :(
