What's on my Mandarin?

llama roadkill

Hey everyone,

I've had my Mandarin for about 4 months now, and she is readily eating live baby brine. Last night, however, I noticed bumps on her, mostly on her head and chin. I waited to make sure it wasn't just detritus, but at this point, I'm pretty sure it isn't. I took her out of the tank to try to get some pics. The bumps in question are bluish and located near her mouth in the photo. The other small white particles were stuff floating in the water.

Thanks, Jacob

Are you sure they're attached to her and not merely caught on by her slime coat?

The only thing I can think of would be parasites, a treatment of prazi in the tank might help, alternatively there are medicated foods like NLS ick shield and Dr G de-wormer which you might consider.

Thanks for the response, I'll check again to see if the stuff isn't actually detritus. Do you have any idea what it could be if it is indeed a parasite?

The little bumps are something I have encountered before. It almost looks like a square and will slowly make its way out of the fish.

Here is a picture of my neon goby from a while back. At that time my clown and my mandarin got the same thing. All fish healed after the thing forced its way out.
