Spoon Fed EM1
is anyone here currently using these skimmers or are they just overhyped? thanks! Link to comment
AdamNC
I used one for 3 years a while ago, and got another one and have been using it for the past 11 months. Link to comment
TheKleinReef
They're good, mine was loud though. no matter what i did. loud. i had it on a timer so i could sleep at night and it was my alarm clock in the morning. Link to comment
reef.led
I had one that I used for 2 years and I was not a fan. It made a lot of noise and microbubbles. It never really seemed to produce much skimmate. The rubber slip to set your cup height will also deteriorate over time. As a side note I have tried to sell it periodically over the last few years and have had no bites.... Link to comment
emily97
Look into the aquamaxx, much better skimmer and quiet Link to comment
reefernanoman
I had one of those and it sucked big time. I wouldn't get one again. AquaC didn't work well for me. Link to comment
marko
mine works. been working for years. now its old and worn and im actually looking to get a stronger skimmer. but i kept an SPS heavy tank with is successfully, so that tells you that it will do its job. the body is virtually impossible to clean well, and tube worms will grow in there and i think their tubes may impede skimmate production so i try to dissolve them with vinegar periodically. you dont want it directly on the tank without a bubble trap, since it will release microbubbles. a false back panel should do fine, or hang it on a sump and your good. JavaJacketOC
I'm currently using an Aqua C Urchin (in sump) for 6 hours during the day when no one is home. I get good skimmate but it's a little on the wet side (although it's supposed to be from what I understand of the spray injection skimmers). It is a little loud but it's not terrible for me because it's not on when I'm around. I've considered changing skimmers but haven't been able to justify it since there is nothing wrong with the Aqua C I'm currently using. Link to comment
