Pinner Reef

For drainage... Only some pipeclamps.

For in the sump:

Skimmer, reactor or any other equipment. Light for a fuge ect.

For return you'll need...

Pump, Tubing/Piping w/clamps, return nozzle.

I have a similar setup with that over flow box and i will tell you this. I love that overflow because I believe it is by far the most reliable BUT you need to make sure there is plenty of flow through it or air bubbles will collect in the u-tube and cause it to break syphon. I run a Mag 7 (700 gph) on my system but it is also feeding 3 reactors and a UV sterilizer off a manifold. I would say shoot for around maybe 500 gph so that would put you at a Mag 5. Stick with the Danner Mag Drive pumps as they seem to be the most reliable as far as submersible pumps go.

Danner pumps are workhorses, I will not argue with you there, but they are outdated when compared to other available pumps. Look into Sicce and Eheim IMO

Yes I agree they may be but have you heard of anyone who is un happy with them? New pumps haven't changed that much recently that I would rather have something reliable that's tried and true rather than something new and untested that I think will last. Especially for a return pump because that is the heart of your system!

They do save your heater from having to come on often, and are similar to a shake weight when you turn them back on. :P

Drilling acrylic is a very easy and safe process. The headache is worrying every day if your power flickered and if your suphon overflow restarted. Many people have had good luck with them, but just as many have had really shitty results (wet floor, dead livestock, burnt out return pumps)

I would still drill it. :P Its acrylic drain it a few inches drill your holes install your plumbing, get a acrylic overflow box use weld 3 on your overflow box done deal. 24 hours later fill it up. Although if it is temp why spend the cash? Just leave it until you get the new tank. I dont want to come off as an asshole but your looking at spending $100 plus to put a hob on your tank. You are stating that it will be temp solution. You are looking for trouble with any hob system. If it is truly a temp solution just wait till you get the new tank and spend the money on some nice coral.

I didnt want to be that guy, thank you

Those u-tube hob overflows can fail very easily. One huge air bubble and bye bye siphon. If you want a fool proof hob get a mame overflow. It's spendy but I think it might be impossible for it to not restart. I have taken mine out of the tank completely and put it back in with siphon restarting every single time.

what does he mean pipe clamps for drainage?

I have two canister filters on it now that are nitrate producers i swear?. so I have to do something immediately and Im not getting a new tank for atleast 5/6 months.

final verdict: will this shit do its job?

what do u mean for drainage some pipe clamps? I do not understand? do u mean to make water go into the sump I need pipe clamps, won't the overflow box put water into the sump? someone help me out I have no idea

Ya idk if he means hose clamps? But I personally hard plumb everything. You'll have to run a line (Hard PVC or rubber hose) from the overflow box to the first chamber of you sump. You will also need a line running from the pump back to the tank (hard or rubber). Like I said PVC and PVC cement is a much better way than using rubber hose but if you do use hoses you want to use those metal radiator hose clamps (as long as they are not in the sump since they will rust) to hold your hoses on the hose barbs. But I can't stress enough how little I trust hoses. I even hard plumb in reactors on my systems...
