Adding different filter media - is there a safe / needed process?

Hey all, so I'm currently running the stock media sponges that comes with the IM fusion 10, but have ordered the intank media basket with purigen and chemipure elite. Can the media be swapped abruptly or is there an introduction process I should follow? I seem to remember reading about someone shocking their tank by just swapping them instantly. Appreciate any advice.

The only thing that you can't 'just swap' is biological filter media going in. Otherwise everything else is just swapping, pretty much.
