The filters and membranes. Spectrapure has the best filters on the market for our purposes.

Ohhh, well thank you very much. Do you have one? How often do you have to replace the membranes and how do you store them?

Yes, I have one of the 90GPD refirb units. I change my filters about every 6 months and the DI when needed (test output with TDS meter).

I store them in the fridge.

Obviously you guys can see im leaning towards the cheapest units I can find lol. Is there really that big of a difference between them? Would this unit not meet my needs?

Buy the cheapest large canister system you can find. The problem with the first units in your post is the replacement media is expensive and wont last as long as the larger canister units will. Get a cheap unit and buy good media from spectra pure, buckeye hydro, BRS. The actual units are all the same made in China. The difference is really the quality of the media and filters you put in the unit. My 7 stage RODI with drinking water was about $100. I buy my media from buckey hydro and get 0 tds di water and great tasting ro water at the drinking tap.

Looks like that is just ro, you should look for ro/di. I had a similar unit from pure water club, which is the maker of the one you posted, and it was a hunk of junk. Complete garbage.

I switched to the refurb unit from spectrapure and have never looked back. Money well spent.

Yes, absolutely. Great unit. Makes hot chocolate in the winter and cold beer in the summer. Best ever.

Go with the Spectrapure from the beginning, no other vendor specially treats and tests all their RO membranes or custom blends their own DI resins specifically for reef use. The housings and fittings are ANSI/NSF and UPC rated or approved so you don't have to worry about bursting, cracking or lead in the plastics like Chinese and imported systems and very few other vendors have been in the RO business in the same US city for over 25 years. They are a true brick and mortar vendor with a telephone and a person who stands behind their products.

Cheap is cheap for a reason and water is the single largest ingredient in a reef system. if you are going to cheap out on water you are doomed for failure from the start. If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right the first time. It does not get and simpler or more direct than that.
