JMCollins24
Before everyone goes off an tries to attack me for something they only have one side to - picture this. You save up your money to buy something and someone offers to send you something that is in "perfect condition", pay for overnight shipping, and eagerly await a product that you've been looking forward to. Flash forward 3 days, the overnight window has passed, and your merchandise arrives. When you open the box everything looks "OK".. pieces appear broken but you overlook them because you think you received a good deal. Then you set it up to find that the actual item doesn't work, the pump is broken, and you end up being screwed out of the money you spent on this "perfect condition" piece. This is what chargebacks are for. Protecting the buyer from purchasing a piece of crap that was indicated as something else. I ultimately bought new equipment, which if I would have done in the first place, this wouldn't have happened. So there you have it, before you judge and post lewd comments about someone maybe you should consider that there are two sides to every story. I don't feel like a creep or feel that I screwed someone, when in reality I got screwed. One thing I've definitely learned from this experience, is to wait to post positive feedback about people before actually testing the equipment. Link to comment

Yes, but did you contact brooklynreefer about the problem? Did you give him a chance to try to work it out BEFORE you just up and initiated a chargeback? Did you send the "defective" merchandise back to BrooklynReefer? If the answer to any/all of those questions is no, then what you did was absolutely 200% wrong. Link to comment

I think the issue here is that before you call for a chargeback, you really should have contacted the seller to try to solve the problem, if nothing else than to alert him of said problem. If the problem couldn't or wouldn't be solved, you could have gone with a chargeback at that point. As it stands, it looks like you stole this item from the seller - even if it ended up being broken, you could have returned it, sent pictures, etc. It's your word against his, and unfortunately for you, there have been a recent string of scammers here on NR and other forums with similar names to yours (initials, a name, and then the number 24), all with similar issues - chargebacks asked for, no contact, money being taken, etc. This makes it look pretty heavily like you scammed people. I'll go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt that you AREN'T the other scammers (though it IS kind of odd and you haven't responded to any criticisms until now). Even still, YOU were in the wrong on this one for not giving the seller any time to fix the problem, not contacting him even to say there was a problem - you simply asked for the chargeback, and are claiming that his product was broken. It doesn't sit right. Link to comment

HarryPotter
who the heck initiates a charge back on a HOBBYIST without first contacting the person to resolve it?Exactly. Like I would not even consider issuing a chargeback until I talk to the person first! I recently had my first online livestock order and about 1/3 were DOA. If I issued a chargeback that would be stealing- the other 2/3 are fine. I (like a normal person) contacted the seller and worked it out. Link to comment

StevieT
This is what chargebacks are for. No they are not. Chargebacks are for if you have your credit card information stolen or an unresponsive vendor. Your use of a chargeback is fraud and stealing from hard working producers. The skimmer was reported received in good condition and working. You then wait a period of time and open a chargeback, without reporting to the seller. This is fraud. All you wanted was your money back because you are a POS leech. If there was shipping damage it needed to be reported the minute after you opened the package, with pictures. Instead you still have the product, have the sellers money and are a thief. Link to comment
