jabeuy Posted April 1, 2015 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Ok, so I was just looking around YouTube, and I saw a thumbnail that looked like it was from one of my videos. I click on it, and IT IS my video! The only difference is they slapped on new music. Somehow I find myself on a reef ecommerce store and they've got the "new" video auto playing on the product page for a Jebao rw8 (which is what my video is showing off). Here's my original: LOL what's happening here?!?! I actually didn't really care if they wanted to use it...but nobody asked me! I would've just let them use my video, but now I'm kinda irked about this. If they linked to the original I wouldn't of minded...more ad revenue for me But they just slapped on new music and reuploaded... Any suggestions on how to proceed? Link to comment

lkoechle Posted April 1, 2015 Share Posted April 1, 2015 They did use your footage without asking and it also means they downloaded it and then re-uploaded it and if they didn't credit you, then that's copyright infringement there by leading customers to believe that this is the store's tank or a jebao company tank. This specifically would not fall under the fair use doctrine as it is being used for a commercial purpose. Write them and tell them to remove the video ASAP. Link to comment

They did use my footage without permission or giving credit anywhere. What irks me the most though, is that they put their logo onto the video! Ahahahaha! I won't post a link to the store publicly here, but I'm sure you can easily find them by doing a search on youtube. Or not... I don't even remember how I stumbled onto the video they reuploaded. They were notorious for using pics of hobbyists fish, corals, inverts, etc. and would post these on their web-site. A buyer would think it was what they would actually be getting. Very deceptive.....
