ndavis242
Afternoon all, I'm an IT dork that hasnt done a saltwater setup in over 8 years since my divorce, but finally have the money/financial stability to do so you'll likely be seeing a lot of me. I have had FOWLR before in the 55, 75 and 29 gallon varieties, but that was years ago and the hobby has changed a bit. I am currently in the process of setting up a 30 gallon (long) tank. Stand and tank are set up, as well as drilled with hoses piping to a 15ish gallon sump. I need to pick up some pvc glue, and then it's water ready. On back order for next week is my skimmer, and lighting, then I i can finally add water. The build will be a by two week process, as I use gas grant I get for work as my budget for reefing I can post a few beginning pics tonight when I get home. But at any rate, just wanted to introduce myself and say hello! Link to comment

vlangel
Welcome back ndavis! Alot has changed in the hobby regarding equipment but thankfully the science is the same. I am sure you will do great and I look forward to seeing your tank. I am old school myself when it comes to reefing since I got my first tank in the late 90s. Link to comment

ndavis242
Afternoon all! Back again with pics! http:// There's the 30 Gallon all drilled.Ignore my bad habit at the top. Light sitting on the top etc. Still not sure how I'm going to stick the black background on the back. The lighting is a Coarlife T5 Dual strip. Should be able to handle soft corals etc. Though I am sure an expert can better help me out. Here is a pic of the sump, which houses the return pump, and the Skimmer. Also filtration media. Skimmer is CoralIfe 65. Just got my RO/DI Unit in today, but supposed to get carpet this week or It'd be filled with water Anyhow, a few questions. What other filtration media is recommended besides sponge filter in the sump? Carbon? Anything else? Any do's and don'ts would be appresicated! Thanks all. Link to comment
