3.7 gallon pico fuge setup

I have a Marina HOB refugium/breeder box that I am using on my 3.7 gallon reef. I have a 80 gph power head in the display that brings the water in. Currently 3 compartments separated with eggcreat. On the intake side is chemi-pure blue The middle is live rock rubble, and on the last compartment before the water returns to the tank has filter floss.

I am going to be adding some chaeto this week as well.

I am wondering how others would set it up. Would baffles be benifical to direct flow through each compartment ? would I put the Chaeto and lrr together or separate ?

any suggestions are greatly appriciated.

If I were you, i'd take out the rock rubble completely, It's just going to trap nitrates. Put the chateo where the rubble was. and put a little light over it.

Sorry shawn I jumped into the shower, so being how you have it now, any crap that gets sucked up in will plug up the chemipure with detritus etc, then you have live rock which will get detritus to settle in there creating a nitrate farm, it is okay to use live rock and cheato, live rock has nitrifying bacteria which process crap into nitrates which then you either export with media ie chemipure and or use , macronalgae to export nitrates and phosphates, along with water changes. Most with such a small tank rely on water changes alone. So I think if you want to try and use both methods it can't hurt. Just alittle rearanging in the compartment.

floss first! this traps and removes large particles (nitrate trap), but dont let it sit and decompose (decay increases nitrates), so filter floss first and replace regularly, live rock in middle, then bag media last.

Okay great, I will put the floss first. Not sure if I'll keep the rock or not yet with the macro algae in the middle and bag last. I have been watching the floss and when I see it starting to show color I swap it out for a fresh piece.

Oh wow I use a large Marina breeder box on my 20L haha. Very glad to see I am not the only one! Mine has Seachem Matrix in the first and chaeto with LED in the next. For flow I did not like the gurgle of an air pump, so I put a Tom aqualifter pump to make it dead silent.

Silent and slow flow through the fuge. Pods everywhere within a couple weeks of setting it up.
