Tom_Ucf
Hey guys! I did my usual stare at the tank in the morning while everything is waking up and I a noticed a few small nudibranches. I sucked them out and have them in a separate container now. My question is; should I be worried about them potentially harming my zoas? Or do they just look like baby lettuce nudibranch? jamescstein
The look like lettuce nudi's at first glance. The trick is do you see them on algae or on coral? Link to comment
ndrobey
They aren't nudibranchs, but some type of sea slug/sea hare. Should be algae eaters. Link to comment
Steve973
They aren't nudibranchs, but some type of sea slug/sea hare. Should be algae eaters. I'm interested in your reasoning in arriving at this conclusion. Can you elaborate? Link to comment
ndrobey
They don't have the naked gills of nudibranchs. They have the two rhinophores of sea hares. Link to comment
Tom_Ucf
So far they haven't bothered my corals. I don't have much algae to begin with besides what gets on the glass and a pesky bit of bubble algae towards the top of my aquascape. It's pretty cool to watch them grow as they graze through the tank. I also have a a six line wrasse in the tank that hasn't bothered them at all. I don't know if that's relevant for their identification, but it was just something interesting that I noticed. Also I'm sorry for the late response. It's been a busy test filled week in school.
