Hi!

So i just preordered a Red Sea Reefer Nano. (dims: 18" x 18" x 18", 45cm x 45cm x 45cm).

I plan on a mixed reef with a wide ranges of corals, two clowns, one goby & shrimp,

What will you guys think would be the most suitable lightning between Nanobox mini or Kessil a160w?

I value coverage, design, control features and so on.

With the Kessil I would go with the Kessil controller, and with Nanobox mini i would go with bluefish right?

Thank you!

Sounds about right. I'd get the nanobox over the kessil though, everyone claims the color is just spectacular compared to what else is available and you will be supporting Dave :D.

Awesome.

Had a mailing conversation with Dave when I thought I decided to buy a Fusion 20, and then get a Nano-box duo, but then the Reefer got available in Sweden :)

Dave felt like a great dealer, very supportive, so Im planning to go with the Nano-box. Does anybody know if the gooseneck comes in white as well, or if you can spray paint it white?

Both are good options.

Like the above said most will point you to nanobox.

I haven't had the chance to seen an A160 in action yet but I've seen the A360s which are basically the same array on a smaller scale and I have a nanobox that's about two generations back from where Dave is now.

Edit: I'm sure dave can cook up something about getting the gooseneck white.

I can make the gooseneck white.

I love the new Red Sea Reefer series as well. I am throwing the idea around of the 24" model.

Regardless of light you can't go wrong. Remember ALL Nano Box units come with Bluefish wireless controllers now. :)

And I think that you can paint the gooseneck white for him too right Dave? ;)

I am not a huge fan of the Kessil....but some people LOVE them.

That said, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these.....Nanobox, Kessil, Aquaillumination (Prime), or Radion.

They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Right now, the Prime and the Nanobox seem to be the hot ticket items.

I have the Tide for my Fusion 10 and I am very happy with it. I did pickup a used Kessil A160WE as a backup just in the event I need to setup a quarantine tank or something. I am also thinking about sending my Tide back to Dave to have a 3rd and 4th channel added ( I would use the Kessil while my light is being sent back to Dave.). That being said, I the Kessil seems to allow you to go a little deeper into the blue range. That does not make it better, just different. The Kessil has an adjustment know that is white at one extreme and blue at the other; you have to choose your mix. IMO the Tide puts out more of a balanced light. The Tide allows you to control the blues and white independently.

NanoBox is going to be the most common answer on this forum, no doubt.

And I'm pretty sure if you asked Dave to sculpt the gooseneck to look like Steve Buscemi he would do it without hesitation.

I was completely sold on the NB until a guy in my local club sold me his XR15w for practically nothing. Even with the huge savings, I still wonder if I made the right choice or not. I've never heard anyone who wasn't 110% satisfied with their NB.

Thanks all! :)

I decided to go with a Nanobox Tide (all white), with moonlight channel from Dave. I think that would look and preform awesome on the Reefer Nano.

Will put up a build thread when I get everything, hopefully before the summer. Unfortunately Sweden's not Red Seas top prio when it comes to European delivery. :(
