Nitrate too high

After putting my question on here last time I got great feed back about how to keep my nitrate down but after trying most products and ideas none have really worked! Shall I just get more live rock would this help...as my skimmer is good and am doing far too many water changes (30% twice a week). I want to push on and get more coral and fish but don't want it going tits up!! Any advice would be great.

More rock has the potential to help. Vodka dosing worked well for me in the past (can take months before you see results). A product by Brightwell Aquatics called NitratR is a resin that adsorbs nitrates very well from the water. You can also regenerate it very easily so you can use it over and over again as needed.

I run a simple DIY nitrate filter. Just a canister full live rock rubble. The flow through is only a few drops per second. This quickly goes anoxic and starts ripping nitrate out of the system. Its like having the deepest parts of you live rock in a canister filter. It take a month to seed properly but once it has its brilliant! :) But don't worry too much about nitrates, 5ppm - 8ppm is fine. SPS can brown in nitrates higher than this but your LPS and softies will love it.

You may want to look at your bio load and feeding regimen. The solutions you're asking for are temporary fixes to a bigger issue. Fix the root of the issue and you won't need to worry about nutrient export beyond a reasonable amount of water changes.
