caroline algae or cynobacteria?

All were dry rock. Just started a week and a half ago. I've read somewhere that if you use a strong pump the cyno would remove itself from the rock since it dislikes heavy flow of water? I tried removing it or scratching it with my stainless steel tweezers while in the tank, but it wouldn't come off. Also I thought it took more than a week or two of setup before caroline algae would start growing on rocks?

Do you have any frags or anything else that coraline might have come in on? If not then this is just a natural coloration of the rock.

Thats what i was wondering too! All rocks were dry rocks I bought from BRS except 3 smaller rocks that I got from a buddy but were dried out already.

Just recently started this nano tank this past week. It's nearing the end of the nitrogen cycle.

This white under the red spots is old coraline algae. That stuff can be pretty resilient and come back even if dried out.

Never knew that! It's good to be reassured as I feared getting cynobacteria right off the bat as I had high levels of phosphate during startup.
