kawtipin Posted March 24, 2015 Share Posted March 24, 2015 Ok so I read a lot of build threads so I figured I would start my own. Pretty cool to see/keep the progress too. So after a lot... I mean a lot of reading looking and reading I decided to buy the Innovative Marine 30L. I love the long 36'' of viewing. I have had two different cube tanks, still have one and I really fell in love with this tank. So I will update as I start getting It together. I ordered the nano box reef quad w storm upgrade for lighting . My wife hates the modern looking stands they sell and I agree so over the weekend we went antiquing. I found the perfect project. I sanded it down this weekend my wife wants to paint it so that will happen this week. I made a few modifications to it for cords ect. here is a few snap shots of what I have going on so far. layla approves Link to comment

I am just a newb so all help is welcome. I can only hope mine looks 1/2 as good as yours. I am really liking the minimal rock work these days. and not like my cube being a big rock tank haha. kawtipin Posted April 7, 2015 Author Share Posted April 7, 2015 ok so it has been a bit but here are the updates I got the tank wet!!! I am still patiently waiting on my light. (nanobox hint hint) So we finally got the Cabinet sanded prepped and painted. I made a few mods to it. extra support for the ato tank. few holes in the back ect. Mounted a nice surge-protector outlet on the side wall. she still has to pick out knobs for it no big deal to finish. Well if looks like its my birthday ohh wait it was on monday. here are the goodies I bought my self. 2 Intank baskets. I am running filter floss purigen and chem pure elite. I only have the filter floss on the other side. from what is says its plenty to treat my tank. right? Tunze 9001 quite quite quite I love this thing so far and have only had it running 3 hrs I am vary impressed. mp10w quite drive and a auto aqua ato. here are some pics I am really pleased with the way this stand turned out. the goods I modded my top draw so i can fit these goodies in there here is the right side with all the wiring and my ato tank ect still got a few wires that need zip tieing but other than that it is clean Link to comment
kawtipin Posted April 7, 2015 Author Share Posted April 7, 2015 I have ordered a im desktop reactor to run gfo in. it should be in this week I hope my light shows up any day now. and I have to say it is vary clean looking tank. the skimmer is not obtrusive fits great in the middle compartment after i shorted up one elbow of the stock plumbing. I cut about a 1/4'' off. What do you all think of my aqua scape/ rock work? I was thinking about a bridge but I played with it and rearranged so many times this is my favorite so far. I want it to be simplistic and not a big ol rock tank. Link to comment

waveland Posted April 18, 2015 Share Posted April 18, 2015 I noticed you listed your Tunze 9001 for sale? Is it not working for you? I love mine....it's foaming great, no micro bubbles and dead quiet. I had to put it in the center compartment of my 30L, but it fit fine. The key for me was to place it where I could see the cup and monitor it and then adjust my ATO until it was foaming where I wanted it. Just curious Link to comment
kawtipin Posted May 7, 2015 Author Share Posted May 7, 2015 hey sorry for such a delay my tunze 9001 was honestly weird. i had to crank the air valve almost all the way down to get it to skim at where they want the water level on that line. and to many micro bubbles for my taste. my uncle bought one and its perfect right out of the box. air valve wide open and at the water marks on the body and is perfect. I probly should have returned it but i felt like i cant because i used it idk... i had mine middle chamber too with the ato set to keep it steady. on a side note i got the IM ghost midsize and its awesome !!! ok so its been a second but now that the wait for daves nanobox quad is over let the stocking begin. here is some pics. It needs the water to be at the same level to work proper it seems. Your tank is looking great! Can't wait to see some pics of it stocked! I'm on a bit of a delay with mine...I added fish too soon without quarantine and got ich. All good....I'm really starting to understand what they are all saying about patience. All the best! You live in Virgina too, huh? Better part than I do! lol. Love the tank, I couldn't agree more about the IM reactor, I use on on my tank and it is one of the best things I've ever owned. I want to try and squeze another one into my sump, lol. Love the tank, I was going to snag a 30L before I found the tank I have now, can't wait to see you get some stuff inside!! Stocking plans? I picked up 2 black ice clowns that I think are pretty. but im not sure as far as corals go what to do and where to put. Im just a newb. as the colors strike me i will buy. so for now I will be lurking on here looking at everyone's tanks for inspiration haha. I have never been an addict but I feel like one now.
