I found some nylon netting stuff at a local fabric store that works perfectly for me...I made the frame out of window screen framing. Cheap, really clean solution!

Can you post some pics or a link? I'm also looking for 1/4" netting. The only stuff I'm finding is bird netting with 1/2" or bigger holes.

I'd prefer to find a small roll locally, but I may have to go online at some point. Interestingly enough I've been thinking that I've seen something that would work really good as part of packaging to something... I can see it in my mind but I can't remember where I saw it.

I believe this stuff is similar: http://www.joann.com/nylon-net-72in/prd7200.htmlbut it wouldn't hurt to go into a fabric shop and ask for nylon netting and maybe show them a picture? The stuff I bought was tucked away where I'd never find it, almost like they rarely sell the stuff.

I don't notice any excessive shading on my light...all my corals open up to full capacity during the day. Gotta figure the lid isn't causing any lighting problems!

Excellent pictures and very good find. I'm having trouble justifying an online purchase for this something to cover my tank- plus I jumped the gun and bought fish already so I'm trying to find it locally. I did look at joanns but they didn't have it at the store, though the lady said that people have been asking for it a lot. Hahaha.

That's a bummer...I think you'd probably get away with typical screen mesh from Home Depot, you may have to bump up your lights to compensate though. Not sure how well it would work but I was considering that approach before I lucked into this mesh!

What store specifically did you get it at?

My other thought is to just use the bird netting and double up.

I got it at Yardage Town...I don't know if it's a chain or just a local store. How much do you need? I can go pick some up for you if you can't find anything else...but at that point you may as well just order the clear netting online haha. I actually might order some of that just because it looks cool!

Haha no that's all right. I'm sure I can make something work - I usually just over think my projects and end reject many good solutions for a single (but much more expensive/difficult) "great" decision. Haha.
