jolee0722
Hoping to get the tank up and running in a few months, but for now, I have to suffice with aquascaping. It took me several hours of cutting, chiseling and gluing, but I finally came up with an aquascape I'm happy with. I am looking for suggestions on how to adjust my aquascape and opinions on whether it looks good or not. Sorry for the crappy photos. Took them with my Samsung S4. Thank you. Chadf
Looks good enough to get started. I've always scaped around the corals I bought and how they grew. Nothing wrong with changing as it matures. Link to comment
Livewreck
Looking good. You've done a great job. There are some interesting structures and negative (empty) spaces as well. I like the overhang seen from the front. This is going to be a great nano reef. Link to comment
ndrobey
The rocks look a little unstable to me. Critters are known to knock over rocks, causing problems. Link to comment
jolee0722
The two smaller pieces may be a little unstable. However, the taller one and the overhanging one both have flat bottoms which I used a hacksaw to cut off. I also super glued smaller flat rocks on the bottom of the overhang one to make it more stable. Hopefully it will hold. Link to comment
jolee0722
Just measured that the tallest rock in the back is 4 1/2 inches from the top of the tank, which will probably make it 2-3" from the water's surface. Is that fine, because I want to grow some nice corals on the top of that rock as well. Link to comment
Livewreck
It will depend on your choice of corals for the "top spots." Some SPS corals (and there are several of those that are easier than Acros) tend to grow slowly and they can be set off to an angle so that they grow outward as well as upwards. Some corals (such as Monti caps) tend to grow in a more spread out direction Instead of growing primarily upwards. Just be aware that Monti caps can shade out any corals beneath them. I have the opposite situation. In retrospect, I wish I had added more height to my rock structure. As it is now, I have to depend on the growth of corals to add height. I'm gong to have a long wait. Just checked out your build. Rock looks really low. But I love your Cadlights mini 4 aquascape. It looks really nice. Link to comment
