Haha.. Wow, that clown is beautiful! Are you going to accidentally get it a friend?

They are supposed to be very agressive in the pairing up process even more so that normal maroons. Sometimes they kill eachother. Once this one is bigger I may consider getting another small one. With any luck the size differance will settle the debate as to who get to be top in the relationship.

To be honest right now I'm just terrified that something might happen to him..... I have had so many inexplicable deaths and jumpers in this hobby I'm all skitish now. :)

My larger maroon tore off all the fins of the juvenile maroon I added, just as I was sure the juvenile was going to die a solution came to me...

I was going to get an acrylic breeder box as a time out your aproach is much simpler :). How long did the whole process take.

Very nice clown! They aren't known for jumping but with that being said I had one jump after 6 months of being in the tank with no issue. If you get it a friend that's close to the same size but smaller they should pair up pretty nicely.

One of the lfs near me were supposedly the first store to offer them for sale. The owner was super proud of them, and loved showing them off. I came in as he was opening the store one day, and we found one dried up laying on the floor. He was crushed. Good luck!

Yeah i put a lid on my tank for the first time ever because of him. I've had so many inexplicable fish deaths that I'm going crazy worrying about him. Now that hes hosting his nem i feel like hes calming down and getting used to the tank so I'm feeling a bit calmer as well.

I wish I could brag and say that hes original lineage from the guy who is breeding the original Lighting Maroon but I dont think that is the case. The price i paid does not match up with the price they want so my guess is we are about to start seeing ALOT more of these in the hobby soon from 3rd party breeders. The nice thing is they have not had time to super inbreed these so i feel like now is a good time to get one that is close to wild genetics. Do i think this means anything tangible, no, but for some reason the hyper inbreeding we practice today in all aspects of animal husbandry erks me. At any rate if i found him on the floor i would also be crushed.
