Julio Posted March 18, 2015 Author Share Posted March 18, 2015 I also have like 35-40lbs of live rock i was told that 1 filter would be ok i just want to know which of the 2 the fluval 404 canister i also told that fluval canister the keep a lot nitrite in it!! The marineland hang on back is more easy to clan! Please need imput on that thanks Link to comment
brandon429 Posted March 18, 2015 Share Posted March 18, 2015 you may use both, or none. many of us use none, the lr is enough to prevent ammonia from any normal fish load. you can use 5 filters as well, so the truth is, it does not matter. you need to keep whatever you use cleaned out of brown mud detritus. CronicReefer Posted March 19, 2015 Share Posted March 19, 2015 I use a fluval 306 but I clean it out weekly with my water change. HOB are easy to maintain but the canister gives you a lot bigger capacity for bio-media and chemical filtration. Link to comment
