harlem
Hey all, looking to do some snorkeling sometime this summer. I've never collected anything, but I've seen some old threads here of people doing just that. Looking to trying it out and doing things legally. I'm curious what kind of housing you guys use for collecting marine life? Do you just get any capped container like tupperware and drag it down with you? How do you secure it to your body to prevent it floating away? Link to comment
VW_TDI_02
This link should help. It appears they just have shovel-like net things to carry the corals from the reef to the boat. Once in the boat they just toss them in styrofoam boxes wrapped in newspaper. I wouldn't recommend a dive bag because that would probably damage them as they grind up against each other. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2005/10/aafeature1 Link to comment
AquaticEngineer
Where will you be collecting and what? That'll determine what kind of container you will need. Link to comment
