Spiderguardnano
so my tank has been cycling for about 2-3 weeks now and there is a diatom bloom i was wondering if it is safe to add my corals to my main tank now? i used dr time for the cycle Link to comment
Bingo1213
What are your water parameters Link to comment
evanski
Probably...did you test for ammonia/nitrites yet? I usually like to demonstrate lack of these two tank metabolites and put in a small CUC and see how they do first. I don't think putting in a small, hearty, cheap frag of a softy/LPS to test the waters would be a problem though. Link to comment
CCXGT
If your water tests are all good (0 Amm, 0 Trites, 0-10 Trates) add a couple of tough softies. I waited on the diatoms vanishing before adding a CUC, last thing I'd want is my OTT CUC starving out. Link to comment
MC5858
I waited until my diatoms had cleared and all my parameters were where they should be then I started by adding a couple of frags at a time in case I was wrong. I add another frag every couple of weeks, orange Ricordia this week, but still have lots of real estate at the top for when the tank matures. Link to comment
GokesReef
If you're ammo is 0, go for it. CuC first though, generally, to finish eating diatomes and get some waste going in there. Link to comment
Spiderguardnano
Ammonia at 0 nitrate at about 10-15ppm Water change then add coral?? Link to comment
Azedenkae
Not quite. Test your filtrative capacity first to see if it has the ability to deal with your eventual bioload. Then, add corals. Link to comment
CCXGT
I added mushrooms at 20ppm Trates, they're doing fine. Do a couple of larger-than-average w/c's to try and push off those Trates. Once they get around 5-10 you can throw in some LPS. Link to comment
