The system is almost up and running!

Things to do...determine if i want to cycle with 2 TDS water rather than drain and refil with 0 TDS water

tank is fully filled and salt is in.

Just ordered this from Aquacave

- Aqua Craft salinity calibration fluid

- Hanna Phosphorous Checker ULR

- 25ct extra reagent for the Hanna

- Red Sea MCP Test Kit

- Replacement RO/DI filters/resin (mine is up to 2TDS on the out now)

I work late tomorrow so I'll try to grab some bottled bacteria and get some pure ammonia to jump start the cycle

Starting the cycle or at least boosting it today with Ammonia and some "bottled bacteria", the LFS did not have any Microbacter7 that I've used previously so I'll give this a shot.

I've dosed to get Ammonia to 3ppm right now and I'll be doing another water test soon... if anyone is interested in starting a tank like this here is the calculator you should use

pH: 8.2

Ammonia: 1.0ppm

Nitrates: 10-20ppm

Yesterday Nitrates were 0ppm... so something is going on with the dosed Ammonia... I expect Ammonia to atleast be 0.50ppm but its still at the same level as last night...

TANK IS CYCLED! Ammonia at 0ppm this am with Nitrate at 20ppm. Time for a water change and to blow some $$$$

Got my order in for my new RedSea Test kits and I am impressed... Also got my calibration fluid, etc.

Can anyone else lend me a hand with determining how many Nitrates I have... I'm looking between 20-50ppm

I'll tag along for the ride! I like the light. Curious as to how it will perform.

Just a suggestion though, The melanurus wrasse should never be in an aquarium this small. Get a speceies that might be better suited to a nano.

Oh... And if you're planning on wrasses.... make sure you have a screen top!

Yea i have a screen top with pond netting. The two wrasses are small and for any possible pest control. They will be moving to a RedSea REEFER at the end of april so I dont see them growing to 2-5-3inches before then

Corals are in from Lawnman...

First Impression:

AMAZING Packaging, you can really tell this guy cares.

Everything was Quadruple bagged and had a heat pack as well.

All zoas were INDIVIDUALLY wrapped, and then placed in two groups of 6 with 3 extra layers of bags!

Plus I believe I only ordered 9 frags and If I can count right now I had 12 in my box for some reason....

Hey just curious as to what % your running your lights at. I have a similar fixture and I can't really decide on the brightness levels anymore. Lets get some pictures of those zoas! I'll be looking forward to when you get your official tank.

Waiting for them to open fully, right now since they are acclimating I'm running it at 5% blue/5% white but plan on going 20-25%/10-15% split

My order from Pieces of the Ocean just arrived...

The melanurus looks like hell, the Yellow Coris is fine... I am a little pissed

update: just took a look at the side of the melanurus wrasse that it was lying down on, Its pectoral fin looks like hell and its side looks like it has a nice gash in it... now I'm really ticked... i took a video of him in a tupperware because that is how i scoop my fish out after acclimating them

The melanurus I got from an online vendor passed away just now... In all honesty it looks like it probably hd a bacterial or parasitic problem on or near its Left or port side dorsal fin.

I'm very aggrivated to that I paid extra for saturday shipping and I get a fish that shoud probably not have been shipped, I even made a larger purchase so I wouldnt be spending $56 to ship $50 worth of fish.

ARG!

It's unfortunate that some online distributors don't package as well as Lawn does. I got really nice stuff from him too. Sorry to hear about the wrasse. They should replace or refund as a DOA.

Sorry to hear your issue. I've yet to jump in on online ordering. I've found another "local" fish store I'll support. Traded in 2 freshwater devils. 8" pelco and a 3" African cilchid. For a little coral frag with 2 mushrooms and 2 developing mushrooms. Impressed with the owner and the water quality. I test the LFS water to see if they walk the walk they all talk it...
